In what was a repeat performance of tight clean racing around the 4.445 kilometre Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit, Round Two of the A.M.S.F. Junior State Championship was held on Saturday July 17. It ended up to be a turn of events from the finish of Round 1 with Tim Clarke taking out the day ahead of Brad Jenner and Reece Bloomfield. A great result for the young Tim in what is his rookie year in junior Rotax. Such is the level of competition in this series that no one driver can make a clean sweep of the event. Each heat has a mixture of results for these talented drivers. The buzz in race control did not come from the seven Rotax powered karts alone.
Some notable visitors to the round had this to say:
Dave Murray (President V.K.A.) "What a well organised Championship. Giving juniors the chance of running on a full size grand Prix circuit. Great bragging rights for school on Monday" Bob Jane (Motor sport legend) "Motor sport is all about grass roots racing. What a wonderful event" Alan Dodge (Committee member NSW Superkart Club) " What a fantastic opportunity for the Juniors, All Superkart clubs around Australia should try and organise a Championship like this" The A.M.S.F. 2010 Victorian Junior State Championship continues at Winton on September 12.
